About Bertschi School

Bertschi School, founded in 1975, is a Washington State approved elementary school serving students in grades pre-kindergarten to fifth. We are an accredited member of the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS) and the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).

Position General Description

Bertschi School is seeking an educator for the maternity leave of our current science teacher.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in science, elementary education,  or related field
At least three years of classroom, science, or outdoor education teaching experience
Experience teaching diverse student populations and partnering with diverse families

Responsibilities

Teach interactive and inspirational science lessons to students in 1-5th grade that have been developed by Bertschi’s science specialist.
Adapt unit outlines to meet the needs of students and prepare daily lessons.
Develop student skills in building and revising evidence-based explanations related to the natural world.
Collaborate with the school’s teachers to support students.
Support students with diverse learning needs to access science curriculum with the support of the director or learning services and instructional coach.
Prepare and order materials for lessons and manage the budget.
Work with technology integration and robotics specialist to support robotics lessons.
