JOB SUMMARY
Eastside Catholic School is seeking High School Spanish teacher in the World Languages Department for the 2024-25 school year, with availability to start immediately. The successful candidate is an educator who will foster growth in students’ understanding and appreciation of Spanish language and culture. The ideal candidate is passionate about Spanish language education, able to work collaboratively and desire to contribute to a faith-based educational community.
Specific Responsibilities
- Establish clear objectives for assigned lessons, learning targets and projects and communicate these to students, following the department’s curriculum
- Collaborate with the World Languages Department faculty to align curriculum while conveying new ideas and best practices
- Plan and teach five Spanish sections, levels I and III, utilizing current pedagogical best practices
- Develop the curriculum materials, syllabus, outlines and assessments in alignment with the department
- Monitor and assess each student’s development and progress
- Participate in all faculty, department and committee meetings as required
- Serve as a Mentor teacher to a group of 15-18 students
Required Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Strong understanding of and experience delivering beginning Spanish through advanced-level coursework at the high school level
Experience with differentiated instruction to serve all students in a classroom - Proficiency with classroom technology
- Ability to build positive relationships and maintain open communication with students and families
- Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and organizational skills
- A commitment to practices that promote equity, inclusion and a sense of belonging
Education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Spanish or related field
- Native or near-native fluency
- Teaching certificate, credential or equivalent successful experience teaching in classroom settings
- Knowledge of the culture, history and practices of Spanish-speaking communities
