Eton School in Bellevue, Washington, is an independent school for children aged three through grade eight whose mission in educating the whole child inspires creative, confident thinkers who have an enduring passion for learning and are poised to contribute to the world. In support of our mission and statement on diversity, we seek a qualified Head of Upper Elementary and Middle School, grades 4 – 8. The salary range for this position is $140,000 – $160,000, depending upon experience.

This position is a full-time, exempt, year-round administrator position reporting to the Head of School.

Essential Functions:

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
·      Recruit and interview/screen faculty members
·      Train, supervise and evaluate Upper Elementary and Middle School faculty and support staff
·      Participate in the supervision and evaluation of the Upper Elementary and Middle School enrichment teachers
·      Participate in the supervision and evaluation of the School Counselor
·      Work with the Learning Service Team including the School Counselor and the Learning Service Assistant
·      Work collaboratively with the administrative team
·      Keep Head of School informed regarding Upper Elementary and Middle School accomplishments and concerns
·      Review purchase requests and order curriculum materials
·      Oversee the budget for both Upper Elementary and Middle School
·      Conduct grade level faculty meetings and in-service sessions as needed
·      Participate in conferences with parents/guardians as needed
·      Work with Lead Teachers to create class schedules
·      Create Upper Elementary and Middle School faculty and staff schedules
·      Guide the scheduling of overnight trips for grades 4-8
·      Work with the Head of Pre- and Lower Elementary to create Enrichment Schedules
·      Review curriculum scope and sequence and make appropriate recommendations
·      Manage bi-monthly Curriculum Reports
·      Edit and approve semiannual report cards
·      Provide input and support for Upper Elementary and Middle School admissions
·      Support the partnership between home and school to serve the best interests of students
·      Support PAGES (Parent and Guardians of Eton School) activities
·      Educate parents of school’s goals and mission
·      Enforce rules for respect and school expectations
·      Overview student assessment process, including standardized testing
·      Maintain a broad overview of the eighth-grade project
·      Advocate for students’ social, emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual needs
·      Make sure classes and duties are adequately covered in the event of teacher absences
·      Foster positive communication within the Eton community
·      Advise class placement and class offerings
·      Build and manage the program calendar each year in conjunction with the Head of Pre- and Lower Elementary

Benefits:
Employees are eligible to participate in the 401(k) retirement plan following one year and a minimum of 1,000 hours of employment; for each dollar an employee contributes, Eton School will provide a matching contribution of up to 8% of an employee’s eligible compensation.
