After School Volleyball Coach

Explorer West Middle School, an independent school in West Seattle, is seeking enthusiastic and experienced volleyball coaches for our volleyball team. This is a part-time, seasonal position for the fall sports season, from mid-September through early November. Practices are held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and games are scheduled between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. There is potential for games on Tuesday or Thursday occasionally. No weekend commitments are required.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach and develop volleyball skills tailored to the abilities and needs of middle school athletes.
Supervise students during practices, games, and travel to and from competitions.
Create a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable team environment that promotes both athletic and personal growth.
Serve as a positive role model, exemplifying respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship for players, parents, officials, and fellow coaches.
Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality for all practices and games.
Prioritize fun, skill development, and sports fundamentals over competition and winning.
Adhere to and enforce all league rules, policies, and procedures.
Communicate regularly with the Athletic Director about team progress and any concerns.
Qualifications:

Must be at least 21 and eligible to work in the United States.
Demonstrated experience supervising adolescents and fostering positive relationships with students.
Comfort with enforcing behavior expectations in a supportive manner.
Strong communication skills with people of all ages.
Flexibility, enthusiasm, and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
Reliable attendance and a commitment to providing quality service.
Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and fostering a bias-free environment.
Ability to pass a background check.
First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain certification promptly).
Compensation:
$25 – $30 per hour, depending on experience.
