Job Summary 

The Studio Classroom/EDP Support position supports the Infant-Toddler Education Program (known as The Studio). They help with all elements of learning and care, including school day and afternoon programming, summer programming, classroom management, and student well-being.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists the Lead Teachers and Special Programs Leads with facilitating provocations, projects, and activities with an approach that is culturally sensitive, follows an anti-bias perspective, and is reflective of children’s developmental abilities.
  • Assists and provides classroom support for all Studio classroom teachers and teams carrying out the daily classroom routines, activities and tasks.
  • In collaboration with all Studio faculty and staff: implements and facilitates summer programming.
  • Works with lead teachers and staff to create a positive and safe learning environment that meets the health, safety and developmental needs of students according to licensing regulations and health and safety procedures.
  • Practices thoughtful, respectful and successful classroom management techniques.
  • Assists in providing all necessary care for young children such as changing diapers, preparing bottles, feeding, changing clothes, helping with naps, etc.
  • Helps to prepare and gather materials required to implement daily program activities.

Classroom Coverage Duties

  • In collaboration with classroom teachers, provides classroom coverage during parent/guardian conferences and team or individual planning times.
  • Assists and provides classroom support for any/all Studio classrooms and teams during lunch breaks, planned and unplanned absences, and as needed.
  • Provides care for faculty/staff EDP during in-service days and monthly staff meetings as needed.
  • Facilitates the end of school day routine when covering the classrooms during team plannings.

Collaboration

  • Proactively communicates with all Studio faculty and staff to ensure that all student and program needs are met.
  • Proactively communicates with the lead teachers and with the director/assistant director when appropriate, keeping them informed of significant happenings in the classroom and in the program.

Program Requirements

  • Completes other projects as assigned by the Infant-Toddler Education Program Director or Assistant Director.
  • Communicates effectively (verbally and in writing) with others, including administrators, colleagues, staff, parents/guardians in order to maintain constructive and professional relationships.
  • Takes part in pre-service and in-service professional development when not providing classroom coverage.
  • Carries out all policies according to The Studio educational philosophy, licensing regulations, The Studio Handbook, and The Studio Health and Safety Policies Handbook.covering the classrooms during team plannings
    Maintains Washington State Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF) Statewide Training and Resource System (STARS) hours. daily activities that are developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive, follow an anti-bias perspective, and meet children’s developmental needs.
  • Keeps personal information regarding children and their families confidential.
  • Participates in annual goal setting and receives regular feedback, facilitated by the Infant-Toddler Education Program Director and Assistant Director.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct reports.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • At least one year of experience working with children (coursework or a degree in early childhood education is preferred)
    Familiarity with the Reggio-Emilia philosophy is preferred

Salary Range: Starting at $60,000 depending on degree/experience
