Our School
Bertschi School, founded in 1975, is a Washington State approved elementary school. We are a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS) and accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools (NWAC). The school serves children from pre-kindergarten through grade five. Bertschi School is an exciting environment for professionals who like to be part of a dynamic team of professionals and who thrive on the challenges and rewards of working with an active community. Position Summary
Bertschi substitute teachers are pre-arranged or called when a teacher is ill to cover teaching responsibilities. Substitutes share their availability and teaching preferences with our office manager. Substitute opportunities range from one to several days in a given classroom throughout the school year. Substitutes may cover classroom teachers, teaching associates, and specialist classes including library, PE, Spanish, science, edtech & robotics, and drama.

Substitute Responsibilities: 

● Able to facilitate substitute lesson plans for teachers in pre-K – 5th grade. ● Communicate and collaborate well with all faculty and staff

● Work and communicate well with students and their parents/guardians

● Comfortable operating classroom audio/visual equipment

Job Requirements: 

● A teaching certification and master’s in education or related subject/field preferred ● Teaching experience highly preferred
