in Independent Schools
Faculty, administrators, and staff, of POCIS Seattle member schools are invited to attend a discussion on DEIB in independent schools. Join Caroline Blackwell on October 24, 2023, from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. PST as she shares trends and insights related to diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging.
Caroline Blackwell is Vice President of Equity and Justice for the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). She advocates for policies and practices that promote civil and human rights, dignity, and belonging in her career as an education leader.
Her previous experience includes serving as the Executive Director of the Metro Human Relations Commission in Nashville, TN, and working as a Senior Administrator at the University School of Nashville, for 17 years.
Caroline holds an undergraduate degree in Journalism, a Master’s in Clinical Social Work, and multiple certifications including:
- Coaching
- Gracious Space
- Polarity Thinking
- Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory (ICS)
Caroline is also a consultant and process facilitator, a contributing author to A Guidebook to the NAIS Principles of Good Practice, the annual NAIS Trend Book, and the consulting editor of Diversity Work in Independent Schools: The Practice Practitioner.
